Message to Moderator

Dear Moderator,
My chosen brief was the Print Brief, and my task was to create a Cover Page, Contents Page and Double Page Spread of a Music Magazine that I called Crowd Surf, and I selected the Rock Music Genre. I worked by myself to create all of my work and I mainly enjoyed taking my own images and using Photoshop to help me with the creation of my product. My blog is best viewed using Google Chrome, and I hope you enjoy looking through my work.

Yours Faithfully, Emily Moorby (pictured below)

Contact Sheets For Question Five Images

Here are the contact sheets of images for the first part of my evaluation video. I am planning on taking the remaining photos at the weekend so I can finish the video next week.

Thursday 22nd January 2015 Lesson Review

I have started to create my final answer for question five of my evaluation. I have decided to make a video using Final Cut Pro and photographs that I have taken. I had an idea of making a video/photo montage to the beat of a song. I picked a song called 'Never Stop' By Chilli Gonzales because it was used on the first ever Apple IPad advert, and I think this will make my video stand out with the use of a catchy song. I am happy with my progress so far, it is taking quite a long time, but I think I am coping well and getting it completed as quick as I can.

Monday 19th January 2015 Lesson Review

As it is tweak week this week, I have begun looking at my feedback to improve my final product. Today I was working on my contents page and I have included a before and after photo below of it. I have added descriptions to my stories to give the reader more detail (unlike the story names, these descriptions are not in full capitals, this is because I want the titles to give the most impact to the reader, and with the competition descriptions, I have added explanation marks at the end, to give impact as well as the titles), I have added a line across the top of my page, I noticed that Kerrang often do this, and it filled out the gap that was previously there. I have also changed my name in the editors column to a handwriting style font to give the impression that I have signed the page myself. And, I have also added a page number to the bottom corner of my page. Along side this, I added an extra page to the 'Ultimate Gig Review' section to fill out some space, and I changed the colour of the text inside the boxes under my images of Kevin Skaff and Parker Cannon so you could see it better (it was previously Black).

Evaluation Question Three

I decided to present my third question using a website called E-Maze because I felt that the layout suited the question best. As it was about Publishing Houses and Revenue, I thought that the Office Theme was very well suited. To view my presentation, you simply press play and pause to view each slide. Below, I have included a screenshot of the creation process, along side my finished presentation.

Evaluation Question Two

I decided to present my second answer on a Glogster. Below, I have included a screen shot of my creating the final thing and I have also embedded my finished answer. I really like how you can present things on Glogster, because unlike Padlet, you can change the backgrounds, add arrows as well as other shapes and small pictures, and you can experiment on different layouts also.

Evaluation Question One

Below I have embedded my response to question one, I used a website called PowToon and I really like this site and I am happy with how my first response has turned out.

Tuesday 13th January 2015 Lesson Review

Today in the lesson, I converted my final piece evaluation draft from Word, to Slide Share to my blog. I have also started to look at how I am going to display the seven questions from my evaluation. I have included a screen shot of me working on the website 'PowToon' which is an online presentation creator. I really like this method as it is easy to use and I really like how it is coming along.

Final Piece Evaluation - Draft

Here is the draft evaluation for my final product. I have answered seven questions regarding the planning, research and construction of Crowd Surf Magazine.

Change of Background

After thinking about it, I decided that I would need to change the background of my Cover Page to a more relevant media (following the scrapbook theme). So, I selected a lined paper background because I was going to use this for my Double Page Spread, but I went for the crumpled paper instead. I like the song title idea, but it was difficult to see some parts of my cover because of the text, and the lined paper doesn't clash with anything. I have put an image of my Cover with this background on below.

Testing New Background Image

Here I have replaced my old background with the new one I just made. I really like the look of it and it hasn't clashed with most of what I had like I thought it would. I need to make a couple of changes to my already existing layers, but besides that, I really like how different it looks.

Background of Cover Page

I wanted to create something that was a little bit more original than using the Blink 182 logo that I did not design. So, wanting to keep the Blink theme, I came up with this, it is all of Blink's song titles on a piece of A4. I am not sure if it will look right, but I am about to experiment with placing my features on top of it to see how it turns out. However, I really like this idea as it is unique for the background of a magazine, and I have never seen anything like this on any publication.

Creating a Wix Page

I have chosen to set out my Evaluation Questions on a Wix Page. Here is a screenshot of what I have got so far. I picked this way to present because I have previously used this website, and I really like the overall look it has when it is finished.

Magazine Poster Experimentation

Using two of my own images that I took, I have experimented placing text and shapes over the top of them to state who it is on the poster just in case the reader doesn't know. I have also included 'CrowdSurf!' on there so is anybody was to see the posters and want their own, they would know where to get them from. I have selected a crumpled paper background (matching my Contents and Double Page Spread) along side Pink and Blue Old Press font text, and a Yellow box (following my Colour Scheme). I like how these turned out and I think they would suit the theme of my magazine enough to feature in my issue, plus, I am advertising a Blink 182 poster special, and my images are of Mark and Tom from the band.
